EcoVelocity aims for carbon neutral first

EcoVelocity-test-drive-route_thumb This year’s EcoVelocity will lead by example by being Britain’s first carbon neutral car show.

After debuting as the UK’s first environmentally-focussed motor show last September, EcoVelocity will go one better by offsetting its carbon emissions by supporting a Hydro-electric project in India via a newly formed partnership with Carbon Neutral Investments (CNI).

Relocated from Battersea Power Station to London’s ExCeL, EcoVelocity will allow visitors to learn about the latest low carbon and zero emissions vehicles available and take some of them on a 3.5 mile test route in the capital.

James Brown, Co-chairman of CNI, said: “We’re delighted to support EcoVelocity by offsetting the carbon emissions of the show, and also of all the visitors’ travel to and from ExCeL over the four days – making it the UK’s first carbon neutral car show.

“EcoVelocity has taken the position as the UK’s major motoring show and, with all the exhibitors boasting impressive low emissions in their automotive products, it’s important that the organisers can demonstrate the same values.”

The show which opens between May 10 – 13 will share the venue with Grand Designs Live with visitors being able to enter both shows with the same ticket.

Attendees will also be able to listen to a series of interesting and thought provoking presentations and discussions from the industry experts about the world of low carbon motoring, including vehicle production, the different technologies and how they operate in the real world. Each session will end with an open Q and A so that visitors can get direct answers to their questions.
